Workshop - Alternative Archives
Between 8 and 9 April, IFAS-Research, in collaboration with IFRA-Nigeria, the History Workshop of Witwatersrand University, the University of Lille and the Worker's Museum of Johannesburg, organized a two-day workshop on the theme "Alternative Archives: Methods and objectives. Conversations between South Africa and Nigeria".
Through this event, several of IFRA's collaborators were able to highlight our work preserving Nigerian forgotten or suppressed heritages.

Methodological Seminar - Ethnography of Gender in Charcoal Production
On 8 April we welcomed Dr Abiola Ayodokun, researcher and Information Retrieval Specialist with Nigeria Watch, for out latest Methodological Seminar!
In this highly interactive session, we delved into the topics of positionality, adapting to the local cultures and accompanied research.

Invitation - On Glass-Eating Priests and Political Party Structures in Nigeria
IFRA-Nigeria is pleased to invite you to our latest Methodological Seminar : "On Glass-Eating Priests and Political Party Structures in Nigeria". Joining us will be Dr. Sa'eed Husaini, a Research Fellow at the Center for Democracy and Development in Abuja.
Connect with us on 15 April at 10am to hear his thoughts and experiences examining the ins and outs of studying grassroots party branches in Nigeria, and answer the question : how do you study a phenomenon that is both ubiquitous and, by many accounts, non-existent?

Call for Participation - Alternative Heritages Conference
We are excited to announce our upcoming event with the National Museum Onikan Lagos, the “Beyond the Classical: Unveiling the Unsung” Conference. This high-profile gathering for academics, culture and heritage professionals, and more will take place on 2-3 June 2025 at the National Museum Onikan Lagos.
We invite you to submit abstracts and present your research papers, innovative practices and/or case studies at this important event.

Delphine Manetta's visit to Uppsala University
Between 19 and 27 March 2025, IFRA-Nigeria's Deputy Director Delphine Manetta, was on a mission at Uppsala University in Sweden. There she met with the anthropological department of the University and participated in two events : a public lecture on the Burkina elections, and a seminar on the practice of ataya, the practice of drinking tea, in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Workshop - Traduisons ensemble !
On 18 March, we welcomed Mona de Pracontal, translator to French of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Chigozie Obioma, for a translation workshop. The participants had the opportunity to practice their skills and discover Broderies, a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi.

Publication - Sources no. 9 "Varia"
The newest issue of Sources is out! Enjoy free access to this interdisciplinary, multilingual, open-access peer-reviewed journal.

High Level Scientific Stays in France 2025
The Embassy of France in Nigeria is implementing the French Government Scholarship Programme, "France Excellence" among which are the "High-Level Scientific Stays" (SSHN), addressed to academic and research staff.
